Aquila Tours, an Atlantic Canadian Tour Operator, has been organizing meaningful travel programs for groups to destinations around the world since 1982. Through the long-standing relationships that Aquila holds in the travel industry, we are forging new partnerships and creating tremendous opportunities for our clients to travel with purpose and take part in incredible voluntouring programs in destinations around the world.

With these new voluntouring programs, Aquila follows the voluntourism philosophy of offering an inclusive, seamless travel experience from start to finish that integrates voluntary service to a destination and the traditional elements of travel. By offering these programs, Aquila’s aim is to encourage travelers to participate in humanitarian and environmental projects around the world and to make a difference in the world around them.

As we continue to develop voluntouring programs, our volunteer focus will be on local humanitarian, social and environmental projects in the regions we visit. The team at Aquila works closely with well-established service groups and organizations that have a local presence in the destination in which voluntouring programs are offered, such as Habitat for Humanity International. We will strive to offer programs that include varying projects, from building houses to offering child care, from working in local hospitals to removing debris from the sea bed.

What You Can Expect
When you register for a voluntouring program with Aquila, among many other things, you can expect:

• Volunteering components organized and arranged with well-established, reputable organizations that have a presence in the destination
• Programs with all of the logistics handled, including accommodations, meals, local transportation within your destination, and many other logistics
• Assistance with your air travel arrangements, if you wish
• A team leader from North America, with specialized training in leading Voluntouring Programs
• A local representative in the destination to be an on-site resource
• Detailed pre-departure information, including researched information on your destination, what to expect from your program, what to take with you, some phrases in the local language, and other information
• Assistance with arranging necessary travel visas, as well as travel insurance if you wish
